  Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and other necessary documents as per the specified format and size.

   Pay Application Fee: Pay the application fee online through the available payment modes (Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card).

  Preliminary Exam   

The preliminary exam is a qualifying stage and consists of a single paper with objective-type, multiple-choice questions.

 * Total Questions: 150

 * Total Marks: 600

 * Duration: 2 hours and 15 minutes

 * Marking Scheme:

   * +4 marks for each correct answer.

   * -1 mark for each incorrect answer (negative marking).

The paper is divided into three sections:

A. General Studies - No of Questions 50  Total Marks 200 

B. General Science  - No of Questions 50  Total Marks 200 

C. Comprehension/ Logical Reasoning/ Mental Ability- No of Questions 50  Total Marks 200 

Total Questions - 150  Total Marks - 600 

 

       Mains Exam      

The mains exam consists of two papers, both of which are objective-type.

Paper-1: General Hindi

This is a language proficiency paper that candidates must qualify to be eligible for Paper-2.

 * Total Questions: 100

 * Total Marks: 400

 * Duration: 2 hours and 15 minutes

 * Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score a minimum of 30% to be eligible for Paper-2.

Paper-2: General Studies, General Science, Mathematics, and Reasoning Ability

The pattern and syllabus for this paper are similar to the preliminary exam.

 * Total Questions: 150

 * Total Marks: 600

 * Duration: 2 hours and 15 minutes

 * Marking Scheme:

   * +4 marks for each correct answer.

   * -1 mark for each incorrect answer.

The paper is divided into three sections:

A. General Studies - No of Questions 50   Marks 200 

B. General Science  - No of Questions 50  Marks 200

                                       Syllabus   

 

  Nature of Examination:- Objective

 

In the light of Bihar Staff Selection Commission Examination Conducting Rules-2010, Preliminary Examination will be conducted if more than 40 (forty thousand) applications are received. Preliminary Examination can be conducted in more than one phase if more applications are received. In case of conducting examination in different phases, the result of the examination will be prepared by adopting the process of equalization.

 

Preliminary Examination will be objective in nature. Through Preliminary Examination, candidates equal to (5) times the number of vacancies available category wise will be selected for the Main Examination. Separate advertisement will be published for the Main Examination.

 

The questions will be objective and multiple choice. Total number of questions will be 150. 04 marks will be given for each correct answer and 01 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The duration of the examination will be 02 hours 15 minutes. The medium of language in the Preliminary Examination will be Hindi / English.  If there is any difference between the Hindi and English question papers, then only the English questions will be considered.

 

The syllabus prescribed for the exam is as follows-

 

Preliminary Exam: In the preliminary exam, one paper will be of general knowledge, which will have the following subjects-

(a) General Studies.

 

(b) General Science and Mathematics.

 

(c) Mental Ability Test (Comprehension/Logic /Reasoning/Mental Ability).

 

The questions will be objective and multiple choice. The total number of questions will be 150. 4 marks will be given for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours 15 minutes. The medium of language in the preliminary exam will be Hindi/English. If there is any difference between the Hindi and English question papers, then only the English questions will be considered.  Syllabus:- The preliminary exam syllabus is as follows-

 

Section (A) General Studies : The questions in this will be aimed at testing the candidate's ability to gain general knowledge of the environment around him and its application in society. Questions related to current events and minute observations of day-to-day events and scientific approach towards them will also be included, which any educated person is expected to know. Questions may be asked specifically about Bihar, India and its neighbouring countries.  ( Current Affairs:- Scientific progress, National/International Awards, Indian languages, books, scripts, capital, currency, sportspersons, important events.

 

(i) India and its neighbouring countries:- History of neighbouring countries, History of India, culture, geography, economic scenario, freedom movement, main features of Indian agriculture and natural resources, Constitution of India and polity, political system of the country, Panchayati Raj, community development, five year plan and contribution of Bihar in national movement.

 

Section (b) General Science and Mathematics- In this, generally questions can be asked from the following subjects of matriculation level:

 

(i) General Science:- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography.

 

(ii) Mathematics- Questions related to number system, calculation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, interrelationship between numbers, basic arithmetic operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, and profit and loss.

 

 Section (C) Mental Ability Test : - In this both verbal and non-verbal type of questions can be asked. In this component as much as possible questions related to the following can be asked - analogy, similarity and difference, spatial imagination, problem solving, analysis, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relation concept, arithmetic reasoning, arithmetic number series, coding and decoding.

💫 There will be two papers for the main examination. 

(A) Hindi (Only those candidates who score 30% or more than 30% marks in this will be evaluated for the second paper.

(B) The mains paper will contain the following subjects :- 

1. General Studies 

2. General  science and mathematics

3. Mental Ability Test (Comprehension/Logic/Reasoning/Mental Ability)
